Miami, Florida, January 12, 2009 - On Wednesday, December 31, 2008, prominent Miami attorney, John Leon was honored as “2008 Lawyer of the Year” by the organizers and sponsors of the “NYE” celebration held at the Design District located in the heart of Miami. The award was in recognition of Mr. Leon’s significant contributions to the legal and philanthropic community during the 2008 calendar year. Among Mr. Leon’s contributions in 2008 was the 1st Annual and highly publicized “Rock the Fashion,” a rock and fashion themed red carpet gala for charity which benefited a local University’s School of Law and which is scheduled to be held again in July, 2009 and will include some of South Florida’s most well known designers, models and musical entertainers. In 2008, John donated more than 1,200 hours of his time to this charitable event alone. Among his other charitable endeavors, Mr. Leon also participated and helped St. Thomas University organize the Sports Ethics and Illegal Gambling Seminar in November, where he also served as a panelist. John Leon will also be named to the “Power Issue” by a local publication for his legal and civic efforts in early 2009.
John Leon has several other charitable and professional events being coordinated for 2009 including a “Pre-Eminent Lawyers” conference and musical festival for charity.
